What if Facebook doesn't exist?

Just recently deleted my Facebook account and I started wondering what if it never existed?

Facebook's effect to the world is extremely overwhelming.  People would create an FB account from simply being wanted to keep abreast with "what's in" so they can keep up with the daily conversation of their circle of friends to being addicting later on.  Facebook is a "social networking site" that connects a lot of relationships, including those that must remain disconnected.  FB games engages users to stay long hours and even spend money to level up faster.  Friendship bonds become closer and some destroyed.  Often misunderstanding arises because one is putting malicious intentions to what is virtually seen and by the words being post.  Some chooses to simplify their life by not having an account or limiting their FB activities and focusing to more important things in the real world. Others have been deeply damage and needs to avoid seeing what's hurtful to them or to avoid being seen by those who have intentions to hurt them. Some just can't afford to waste their time especially those with huge responsibility in the real world (like having ten kids).

FB has become, as it is originally designed, a business platform for micro-enterprises to large corporations worldwide. Businesses really benefited from varieties of marketing initiatives with FB's more than 750 million of active users worldwide and counting.  I too have created number of business pages and connect my blog to attract large traffics to my sites.

So, what if Facebook never existed?
My personal opinion: Since Facebook is a virtual thing, if it doesn't exist people will spend their time improving real world social life.   Update what's happening with you or with them by simply asking it personally or giving a call, not just by reading and posting on "walls" and commenting and clicking like buttons. No doubt, we gain benefits with Social Networking Sites such as Facebook.  However, having an account and deactivating one is a personal decision.  I don't really know what the world looks like now if Facebook is not here but I would love to hear your opinion.
